Video Game Detox - Day 4 of 30
I was really tired yesterday. So tired that I couldn't hit my work quota because my eyes were full of gravel and my brain was full of fog. That's not normal for me. Energetic and upbeat is my status quo. I eat really healthily, exercise regularly, drink booze very rarely and gave up smoking years ago. Picture of health, you might say. But yesterday I felt like I'd been on a three day bender. I'm feeling better today but it got me to wondering. What made me so tired?
Then it hit me. I've been working at this here computational apparatus for seven days straight, 6-7 hours per day. I know that may not seem a lot compared to the number of hours many people work, but that's 6-7 hours of game design and writing. That's pretty intense concentration and I don't count coffee breaks, toilet breaks and lunch. That's 7 solid hours. My partner was away so what'd I do in the evenings to stave off the cloying quiet? Played AC: Odyssey and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The latter is a fantastic game and I mean it no disrespect. But after seven days of 7 hours of intense computer work + at least 2 hours of intense gaming, it's no wonder I feel dog tired!
Last night I took a proper break. I retired to the couch for some reading and cuddling of the beautiful cocker spaniel we're looking after. I read in bed too and was asleep by 10:30pm. Today I feel a bit better. I imagine tomorrow will be better still. :-)
